Jymenik — Close To Me

Brighton-based singer-songwriter Jymenik shares new single “Close To Me”

Brighton and Hove is home to arguably the best rock band in the world right now, Royal Blood— and it’s also well known for its brilliant live music scene which usually showcase up and coming bands. While the focus has always been on indie and rock acts/bands down there, the south coast city has recently seen a rise in exciting emerging R&B/Pop artists such as our very own little superstar vi0let, Kaisha, DeTeresa and now Jymenik.

Born to Yugoslav immigrant parents in the UK, Jymenik has always used music as a form self-expression. Her influences range from the modern (The Internet, NAO and Kaytranada), to the classics (Marvin Gaye, Roy Ayers
and Erykah Badu)
. These artists have all inspired her to create alternative R&B music with sprinkles of soul, funk and electronica.

Her latest single “Close To Me” was written last summer after entering a new chapter of her life. She wanted to capture what falling in love with someone new felt like in a song. Jymenik’s soulful vocals float beautifully over the stunning production that progresses into a trap-infused beat. Overall, “Close To Me” is a solid offering with late night vibes which showcases her vocal abilities and dynamic lyricism.
