Hot outta San Francisco, 24 year-old genre bending artist ZOLA’s first release of 2021, “Nosebleed”.
I am such a sucker for lyrics. Lyrics that tell you a story, lyrics that convey an artists world to you, an artists life and love and surroundings and pain right into your AirPods.. her voice has this gorgeous texture that makes you feel like a WarnerBrothers cartoon sun beam is singing soulful pop to you.. does that even make sense? Please listen and you’ll understand.
ZOLA sings to us, the catchy, shimmering, sunny melody concealing the vivid imagery, “California is on fire, but everyone’s too busy… getting nosebleeds in the shower, oh it’s a bloody party”. Really… she is a fantastic writer worth every minute of your time. As much as it’s a sweet hot girl indie pop song it is an enchanting poem about the parallel’s of artistry.
“Nosebleed” is ZOLA’s first release for the rollout of her second EP expected later this year. (I’m excited!)
“To put it simply, “Nosebleed” was written when I needed the hug and support I didn’t feel like I was getting. I was traveling to Los Angeles every month for week-long stays from San Francisco and working with my first label and with all these added members to my musical journey, I had never felt so alone. In parallel, California was experiencing its most devastating natural fires today and I felt like my home was now literally burning to the ground.” — ZOLA.
