YAOUNDÉBOXINGCLUB delivers summer vibes on new single “Southside”

Known for releasing emotionally-driven songs such as “Young”, “Oceans” and “Wait for You”, London-based French singer-songwriter and producer YAOUNDÉBOXINGCLUB has finally released an upbeat song. “Southside” is a feel-good indie pop track with enticing harmonies and a hazy summer production which details how far we’ve come since the beginning of the pandemic. She masterfully blends, indie, soul and pop and electronic music, to create a sound that instantly connects with you— it may not be sunny today in London, but “Southside” has lifted our spirits.

“I made the beat for ‘Southside’ back in January 2020, and wrote the hook shortly after. Winter was particularly depressing that year, so I was really looking forward to summer. I then kind of put the song on hold, and resumed writing almost a year later, in the context of the pandemic. I just wanted to write a feel-good summer song, that also reminded us of how far we’ve come since the beginning of it all and that even though we don’t what tomorrow is made of, the present is ours to live”—YAOUNDÉBOXINGCLUB.
