Shloob ft. Lady Laveaux 2forwOyNE – Grape

Shloob stands in the snow outside a house in a dark winter coat, framed by ghostlike figures and a cold blue dusk sky.

Shloob slips into something sly, slick and seriously addictive on “Grape”

Louisville artist Shloob pulls one of the most immediate moments from Trippin From The West with “Grape,” a fast-moving, funk-leaning cut that links him with Lady Laveaux and 2forwOyNE. The track appears on the new 12-song album and stands out for its sharp pace, sticky hooks and restless energy.

There is something especially playful about “Grape.” It moves with a wiry, electronic pulse, folding bright synths into a groove that feels both loose and tightly wound. The result is catchy in a way that sneaks up on you – not overly polished, not trying too hard, just instinctively cool.

There is a slight Leon Thomas edge to it too: elastic, off-centre and full of personality, with enough bounce to keep the whole thing in motion.

What makes the track land is its chemistry. Lady Laveaux and 2forwOyNE help give “Grape” an extra sense of collaboration with Laveaux’s yearning vocals pulling you deep straight away followed by Samarei and 2forwOyNE’s blended production, making the feel collaboration feel intwined and deeply musically driven, a rarity in it’s space.

Shloob has long been part of Louisville’s wider rap conversation, both as a member of The Homies and through earlier work with Jack Harlow on “Wasted Youth.” On “Grape,” though, the focus is less on backstory and more on instinct. It is one of those tracks that knows exactly how it wants to hit – and does.
