Dublin-based band Martina and the Moons take flight on new single “Higher Than A Hawk”

Dublin’s indie scene continues to produce some of the best up and coming bands around. Newcomers Martina and the Moons are one of those bands, and today they make their DNü debut with “Higher Than A Hawk”.

From the opening seconds, the song establishes momentum. A driving drum pattern and locked-in bassline push the track forward, while jangling guitars glide across the mix with purpose. There’s an unshakable sense of motion here, but the band resists the urge to overcrowd the arrangement. Instead, space is used thoughtfully, allowing atmosphere and rhythm to coexist without dulling the song’s impact.

Lyrically, the track leans into themes of longing, fixation, and emotional elevation. The imagery feels cinematic but open-ended, leaving room for listeners to project their own experiences onto the song. There’s a quiet tension between holding back and giving in, which mirrors the song’s steady build and release.

Taken from their Starfish Social Club EP and released via Rubarb Music, the single feels like a defining step. It’s not chasing trends or leaning on nostalgia, but carving out a space that feels lived-in and intentional. Excellent from start to finish, “Higher Than A Hawk” doesn’t just signal potential. It feels like a confident statement from a band steadily finding altitude, clarity, and direction.
