LUBU — Forever

LUBU unveils new track “Forever”, taken from latest EP KODAMA

Melbourne-based Producer and DJ, LUBU, has arrived full-throttle with his track “Forever”, a pressure-cooker of a tune. As a fan of hard-house, UKG and techno, I’m always thrilled when a cocktail comes along. And what you have here is a tapestry of stuttering beats, deeply-tinkered-with-synths and granular vocals from some distant celebration that align marvellously. The effect is a hypnotic rise and fall of energy that will no-doubt have people possessed in live settings.

“The track came out exactly how I was feeling at the time, and I think it really says a lot about that moment of excitement and appreciation”, says Liam of LUBU, who explains that the euphoria pulsing through touches on exceeding prior expectations and the feelings that came from striking a deal with Greenroll Records. “I’m trying to create something new while still keeping it true to myself”, he says, while reflecting on his new EP, KODAMA and his journey so-far.

“I’m definitely happiest when I’m making music, finding new music or learning new things, which is why I love to produce. I’m still learning about music production 10 years on.”LUBU.

Most of LUBU’s work comes from a gut-feeling, but game recognises game, and for this specific EP he has been inspired by the likes of X-CLUB, Skee Mask, past-Greenroll Records exports and jungle-influenced artists.

“I love music. I really love it.”

It’s great to hear that LUBU is in good spirits. His EP is a fab contribution to the thriving Aussie-techno scene. I recommend you listen to it below. As for the future, LUBU says that “when I’m in front of my computer or in the studio making music, that’s where everything makes the most sense” – it’s fair to say that he’s just getting started.
