emie nathan Releases Emotionally-Charged New Single “upstream”

Newcomer emie nathan releases emotionally-charged new single “upstream”.

Despite being relatively new, singer-songwriter emie nathan has already garnered lots of support from the likes of CLASH, BBC Radio 1, Wonderland and more thanks to her stunning debut “noman”, which has become one of our favourite songs released this year. Her latest single “upstream” is an emotionally-charged song accompanied by a beautiful music video directed by Raja Virdi and choreographed by Elise Mumford. emie delivers another breathtaking vocal performance this time sung with so much emotion where as a listener you’re instantly drawn in and taken on a magical journey for three minutes and fifteen seconds. 2020 was an emotional rollercoaster for the newcomer, and as bad as this sounds, we’re glad she experienced those highs and lows, otherwise she wouldn’t of blessed us with this masterpiece. Grab your tissues and enjoy this touching song.

“upstream is a reflection of an incredibly polarised mindset I found myself in at the end of 2020. Within the space of 48 hours, I experienced skyrocketing personal highs and plummeting lows. I had a birthday where I turned 24 years old, received news of my Platoon deal and then found out I had lost a family member who I was unable to see in person for the entire year. Going through the sheer emotional rollercoaster of my achievements, celebrations and relief to the crashing and deeply saddening news of loss, I really struggled to know how and what to feel. And even, what was okay to feel. It was quite frankly, one of the best and worst moments of my career to date. Upstream describes the internal battle I had with myself, reckoning with the spectrum of deep seated emotions and searching for a guiltless equilibrium in the depths of grief” — emie nathan.
