Despite being relatively new to the scene, the Portland, Oregon rapper has already made a name for himself by receiving coverage from the likes of Pigeons & Planes, EARMILK, Elevator, Okayplayer and more. And no, it isn’t just by luck, this young man is talented and deserves all the attention. His latest release is the music video for “PERIWINKLE”, taken from his current album COLORS. The song itself will give new listeners early Kendrick Lamar vibes— Donte’s melodic rapping ability is captivating and his vocals seamlessly matches with the compelling production. The music video shot by Timslew of Soundlapse and co-directed with Donte, is an enjoyable watch and gives us an idea of what the scenery in Oregon looks like—pretty awesome to be honest.
