Colby Lafayette Unveils New Single “BUMPIN’ 16’s”

Newcomer Colby Lafayette unveils new single “BUMPIN’ 16’s”, the first single taken from his upcoming EP SO BAD released via indie label Dreams Never Die.

24 year-old Los Angeles-based Boston native Colby Lafayette grew up playing in bands with his friends and listening to rock and grunge legends such as Jimi Hendrix, Black Sabbath and Nirvana. He eventually started combining hip-hop in his music after discovering the likes of Odd Future, Childish Gambino and Kendrick Lamar in the early 2010’s. After spending most his life writing from his birth name, he decided to create the Colby Lafayette alter ego, fully liberating himself from the weight of his own identity and providing a blank slate to create without limits. His latest offering “BUMPIN’ 16’s” is the first single taken from his upcoming EP SO BAD, a 6-track collection of gritty, bass-driven bangers built over alt-rock infused production. The song itself is captivating, Colby’s vocal performance is brilliant— he delivers an infectious rap-sung hook over a compelling production which would sound awesome to mosh to at a gig.
