Clarissa Mae shares the official video for “bed crumbs”, a funk-driven pop-rock moment from her debut, the love songs EP. Released on 13 October 2026, the 16mm film puts the London-based Filipino-British singer-songwriter and her band at its centre.
The song finds uncertainty in the ordinary details of being close to someone. Breakfast, shared sheets and late-night calls sit alongside a more difficult question: whether the affection being offered means the same thing to both people. The repeated insistence that she is “fine most of the time” leaves room for the doubts that follow. Clarissa’s writing allows the small comforts of intimacy to coexist with feelings that remain unresolved.
The 16mm film behind ‘bed crumbs’
In our September coverage of the love songs EP, we highlighted the bassline, grooves and live instrumentation of “bed crumbs” as a striking change of pace. The video gives that band setting a physical presence: Clarissa plays a seafoam-green electric guitar, with the musicians gathered around her beneath exposed wooden beams. Film grain adds texture to the scene.
That approach connects with the personal visual language running through the wider campaign. Childhood photographs accompanied “shy”, while “anyway” was filmed on Clarissa’s mum’s 1990s camcorder. Here, 16mm carries that interest in tactile images into a different setting, bringing the musicians and their instruments into the frame.
Paolo Sarli, Joseph Heap and the team behind the video
Directed and edited by Paolo Sarli for WOP VISUALS, with cinematography and colour by Joseph Heap, the “bed crumbs” music video was filmed at Bean World Studios. Between them, Sarli and Heap’s previous work includes projects with Joy Crookes, Unflirt, Venbee and Leonie Biney.
Cadyn Jay Lewis Page, who releases music as KDYN, appears alongside Robert Adoo Kissi-Debrah and CJ Ragrag. Natalie Vest-Jones handled artist makeup, with behind-the-scenes photography by Max Tesmann-Sturge.
Sire spotlights the S5 and U7 instruments
Ahead of the release, Sire shared a preview on its official Instagram on 12 October, highlighting the S5 and U7 instruments featured in the video. The post also credits KDYN on bass and Origins Inconclusive as the label. That focus on the instruments offers another way into the film’s live-band setting.
From the love songs EP to ‘bed crumbs’
“bed crumbs” is the fourth track on Clarissa Mae’s five-song debut EP, released on 18 September 2026 through Origins Inconclusive. The collection brings together “love songs”, “anyway”, “translate”, “bed crumbs” and “shy”, moving through romantic uncertainty, misunderstandings and the insecurities of growing up.
