An Introduction to Newcomer Rauly

We had a chat with newcomer Rauly about his come up and debut single “In The Eyes”

Newcomer Rauly has released his stunning debut single “In The Eyes” along with a music video. The song produced by Charlie Heat and BUSCO effortlessly combines indie and pop with elements of hip-hop. It’s catchy, beautifully-written, and relatable with a lot of mainstream appeal— below we took a moment to quiz him about his come up and his debut single.

How are you doing?

I’m doing well! I’m really excited to finally release the music I spent all last year working on!

Nice! How long have you been making music?

I remember making my first songs on guitar like ten years ago but I didn’t start recording and releasing till about five years ago.

What artists inspired you to get into music?

Ed Sheeran definitely inspired me the most to get into music. It was around the time I first heard his songs that I started writing songs on guitar.

Describe your sound in your own words.

My sound is a mixture of everything I listen to. Growing up I would listen to acoustic pop songs, hip-hop, and alternative. I like to say I’m what happens when you combine Ed Sheeran, Lil Uzi Vert, and Green Day into one. My sound is a unique one for sure and if you really listen you can hear all of these influences coming through.

Eclectic. How did you and Charlie Heat meet?

Almost a year ago now, Charlie posted on his instagram that he was looking for artists to collab with and was taking submissions from any artist. I submitted my music to him that night without thinking much of it. The next day he emailed me saying he liked it and sent me beats to make songs to. Eventually, I met him at his studio and the rest is history!

Wow, that’s amazing. What was the first thing he said about your sound/music?

He said it was fire hahaha and that I had a unique voice that people would notice!

He’s right about the voice! How many songs have you recorded with him?

I’ve worked with him and another producer Busco, who co-produced “In The Eyes” with Charlie, on about 50 songs and counting now.

“In The Eyes” is the first release, and it sounds great. How did that come about? Talk us through the creative process.

The beat for “In The Eyes” was one of the first beats Charlie sent me. As soon as I heard it, I knew it was a love song. I came up with the hook pretty quickly and then the rest of the lyrics and melody followed!

What message are you trying to convey in the song?

In this song I’m talking about how I’ve been lied to before so I’m hesitant to tell her how I feel. I don’t want to tell her how I feel until she tells me and when she does I want her to “look me in the eyes” so I know she’s telling the truth. I think a lot of people can relate to this message especially those who’ve been played before like me.

What mood were you in when you wrote it?

When I wrote this I was definitely in a happy mood and in love.

What else can we expect from you in the next few weeks?

Well the music video will be coming out with the song and let’s just say the next release isn’t too far away!

Do you have any upcoming gigs?

With COVID surging again and no music out yet, I haven’t booked any gigs. This is the longest I’ve gone without performing since I was literally like five years old so I can’t wait to get back on stage!

Ah, true. That sucks. Last question, if you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be and why?

I mean it’s pretty obvious but I would love to collab with Ed Sheeran because he’s a huge inspiration to me. It would be a dream to write a song with him and I know it would be a hit!
