Internet Cafe – Sign of the Times

Internet Cafe arrive with restless energy and real emotional pull on “Sign of the Times”

South London duo Internet Cafe make a strong first impression with “Sign of the Times.” Their debut single blends raw electronic texture with alt-pop instinct. The result feels urgent, open and full of movement.

Built around driving beats, swelling synths and subtle guitar, “Sign of the Times” captures the instability of young adulthood. It reflects the feeling of growing up in a big city and trying to find your place inside it. The production starts in a restrained space. Then the chorus opens everything up, giving the track a lift that feels both purposeful and euphoric.

Imi’s lead vocal sits at the centre of the song. It softens the edges of the production while still carrying it forward. There is emotion in the delivery, but also momentum. That balance gives the track its pull. It feels reflective, but still made to move.

That tension sits at the heart of Internet Cafe’s sound. The duo write and produce everything from the one-bedroom ground floor flat they share in South London. Their debut EP, Ground Floor, takes its name from that space. It turns their home into both setting and statement. The music feels DIY in the best way. It is personal, immediate and shaped by lived experience.

Formed after meeting on a dating app and bonding over a shared love of making music, Internet Cafe already sound clear in who they are. Co-written with Låpsley, “Sign of the Times” introduces a duo able to make uncertainty sound vivid, danceable and fully alive.
