Irish-Scottish electronic pop duo SIIGHTS unveil “Blue Skies” remix with rising Irish rapper JyellowL.
Since discovering SIIGHTS’ music in late 2018, I’ve watched them develop their artistry as well as grow their fan base — going from 29k monthly listeners on Spotify to over 140k in just over a year. Ask any emerging act out there, growing a fan base these days can be difficult — you’ve got to compete with bigger artists for playlist placements, airplay and in recent years viral stars who emerge from social media channels such as TikTok, Triller and so on. However, the Irish-Scottish duo have consistently released captivating music with replay value and commercial appeal which has attracted new fans around the world. Their organic rise hasn’t gone unnoticed, they’ve been supported by the likes of Elton John, The Chainsmokers and Scott Mills on BBC Radio 1 to name a few.
Their latest release “Blue Skies” — a remix with rising Irish rapper JyellowL is another outstanding record that will appeal to both pop and urban fans. The rapper touches on a personal subject which will resonate with many listeners, he shines throughout with a melodic flow and introspective lyricism that perfectly matches with the infectious hook and lush production.
“We reached out to JyellowL and having him involved has been amazing. He’s so talented, we love what he brought to the track and the personal perspective he shared lyrically. This song means a lot to us and was hard to write. We have both lost people close to us and it’s something that stays with you forever” — SIIGHTS.
“When Mia and Toni first sent me Blue Skies, it resonated with me instantly. At the time, I didn’t know their personal stories behind the lyrics, but it made me think of how I felt when I lost someone close to me. My grandfather raised me since I was a kid, so when he died it hit me hard. One day he was there and the next he was just gone – everything was thrown into disarray” — JyellowL.
