Irish alt-pop duo ELKIN bare their souls on stunning new single “Win Win”.
Ellen O’Mahony and Carla Ryan have been singing together since they were 15 before taking their music to a whole new level as ELKIN. The self-managed duo had a busy 2019, releasing 3 singles and a collaboration with producer 1000 Beasts, as well as performing at many showcases such as Whelan’s Ones to Watch and Ireland Music Week.
The duo have delivered a powerful message on their new single “Win Win” — the song is built over a pop production infused with compelling electronic sonics. Lyrically, the song focuses on moving on from a relationship or a friendship, something many of us struggle to do. With undertones of female empowerment throughout, ELKIN have proved they’re on the verge of something huge this year. We’ll be watching closely.
“We’ve both had our fair share of break-ups, be it romantic relationships or break down of a friendship. They never seem to get easier, and sometimes you have to convince yourself that breaking up is the best for both of you, even though you know you’re putting yourself first. The lyrics of Win Win are super vulnerable – we wanted to mix that honesty with the fierceness we’ve achieved in our other songs” — ELKIN.
